BWA-CAM¢ç Zr3

The BWA-CAM Zr3 is a specialzed BWA-CAM that provides a fully ISO 11146-1 (2005) compliant measurement on a single sensor with NO MOVING parts!  The BWA-CAM can display more than one Rayleigh range but the signal to noise ratio of the spots beyond the second Rayleigh range tend to be a bit weak for ideal measurement.  The BWA-CAM generally provides a better than +/- 10% accuracy to a fully ISO compliant measurement and for many industrial applications this is adequate.  However, a laser manufacturer requires a higher degree of accuracy and the BWA-CAM Zr3 delivers this.

The system is comprised of a standard BWA-CAM and an additional module that splits the input beam into two beams and provides a suitable delay line so that one set of spatial time slices fall within the first Rayleigh range which establishes the beam waist size and position.  The second set of spatial time slices is delayed to the third Rayleigh range which establishes the divergence of the beam.  The beam waist and the divergence, together, are what determine the laser's M2 value.

Zr3 Summary Screen

The above image shows the summary screen from the BWA-CAM Zr3.  The top row of spatial time slices represent the spots beyond the third Rayleigh range where the divergence of the beam is established.  The lower set of spots are the spatial time slices within the first Rayleigh range where the beam waist is directly measured and it position determined.  This system provides real time, ISO 11146-1 (2005) compliant M2 measurement with no moving parts and is very compact.
